Day out

Day Out: Limerick

Hello and Welcome Back! It is time for my final post about my holiday to Ireland. *Sob* On Monday I shared with you what so discovered in Dublin and on Wednesday I shared with you what I discovered in Galway. Today I am going to share with you what I discovered in Limerick.

Limerick was our wildcard for our holiday as neither my boyfriend or I had been there before and we hadn’t heard much about it. It was a two hour train journey from Galway so was easy to get too.

Walking from the train station to the city centre, we came across lots of impressive pieces of architecture.

This is a statue of Richard Harris who played King Arthur in Camelot in 1967.

When we arrived in the city centre, of course, our first priority was food. In the local shopping centre we discovered Bowes Ryan, a cafe bistro. I had Salmon and my boyfiend had a Roast Dinner. The cafe itself was beautiful decorated with simple furniture and flowery trees with fairy lights intertwined! This really was a hidden gem.

We then checked into our hotel which was the Limerick City Hotel right by the river. As the sun was shining, I decided to walk along the river, known as River Shannon, and take some photos.

Spring must be here if the Daffodils are!

Along the riverside where sculptures and statues which, of course, I took photos of.

This statue is called the Dockers Monument.

The photos below shows the 1916 War Memorial.

I’m not sure who the statue in the photograph below is of but he looks deep in thought!

The castle photographed below is St John’s Castle. I would love to visit there if we get the chance to go back to Limerick. As I love to explore the history of a city and imagine it is similar to the Tower of London. Which I visited last year and really enjoyed. You can see more of what I discovered at the Tower of London here. Anyway, back to Galway!

As with most of Ireland, River Shannon was surrounded by some beautiful buildings.

And finally, a very old boat! I feel sorry for whoever’s boat this is!

So that’s it for my posts about our holiday to Ireland! I had such an amazing time exploring Dublin, Dun Loaghaire, Galway and Limerick. I hope you enjoyed reading about what I discovered. If you have been to Ireland before is there anywhere I should go next time?

Love,

Emma x
