Hello and Welcome Back! It is finally time for another Days Out post. A couple of weekends ago my Best Friend from University and I went to Sheffield for a weekend away. I have never been to Sheffield before but my Dad went to University there so I have heard lots of good things about it!
I arrived a couple of hours earlier than my Best Friend so I went for a walk round the city centre and discovered the beautiful Peace Gardens. The building in the background is Sheffield Town Hall which reminds me of Hogwarts. Is that just me?
Unexpectedly the Peace Garden was filled with interesting and fascinating plants.
As I walked back towards the train station I spotted this monument which apparently is the Cholera Monument.
I also spotted this pub call The Howard with beautiful art work.
After being reunited with my Best Friend we decided to continue exploring the city and get some dinner. Sheffield was filled with aesthetically pleasing buildings.
Below is the town hall entrance with gold gates.
Around the side of the town hall is the police boxes. Before mobile devices these were how the police contacted each other and their HQ.
After a good night sleep the next day we woke up and decided to explore the Botanical Gardens. The weather was lovely and sunny. In the building below are cactus’s and other tropical plants. Later on in the post I will share with you what plants where in the building so stay tuned!
What is a day out post of mine without some close ups of some flowers!? I just find them so beautiful to look at and admire the detail.
As you can see it is was a wonderfully sunny day. It was lovely just to walk around the park chatting to my friend and enjoying the fresh air. A nice change from the London fog I’m used too!
The moment you’ve all been waiting for… this is what I discovered in the green house.
So that is my first days out post for Sheffield. We had a wonderful day out exploring the Sheffield’s City Centre and the Botanical Gardens. In the gorgeous sunshine! Come back soon to see what I discovered in Tropical Butterfly House Wildlife and Falconry Centre.
Have you been to Sheffield before? If so what did you do? I would love to go back so would love any ideas!
