Can you believe it is already Friday again? I feel like this week has just flown by. Maybe that is just the excitement that this weekend is a bank holiday weekend!
For today’s Food Friday I decided to go to Pod. Pod’s, aim is to provide healthy on the go food. I would describe their food as fresh, delicious and super healthy. I have had “food to go” from Pod a couple of times but never taken the time to eat in until today.
The decor is very modern and fresh with vines hanging over the doorway. The interior was white a green with wooden beams creating a rustic feel. Making it the perfect place to go for a quiet lunch.
Today I had the Persian Aubergine and Pomegranate Salad, Lemon and Pistachio Cake and Iced Coffee Cacao. The total price was £12.66.
The salad was lovely and fresh, with the pomegranate seeds providing bursts of flavour. The only improvement I would suggest is to cut mint leaves smaller so they are more evenly distributed. A couple of times I had a mouthful of mint leaves which wasn’t pleasant.
The Lemon and Pistachio cake (which is gluten and dairy free) tasted deliciously zinging, with a soft cake and crispy lemon drizzle top.
The highlight for me was the Iced Coffee Cacao which is made with soy milk, banana, agave syrup, espresso, cacao nibs and peanut butter. I love that it is dairy free as I don’t feel sluggish after drinking it. It tasted amazing, like banana milkshake mixed with Reeses Chocolate Peanut Butter cups! The cacao nibs softened in the drink has the texture of chocolate chips. I would go to Pod again just for this drink!
After lunch, I had some time to spare so thought I would go for a walk around Somerset House. I have never been before, it is free to walk around the grounds and the weather was lovely so it seemed silly not too! The architecture was amazing and it felt like you had stepped out of London for a while as it was so peaceful. It made my day when the water feature came on and I saw a toddler run towards the water feature with his mum running after him!
Here are my pictures of Somerset House for you to enjoy.
Hope you all have a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend.
