Beauty Hauls Review

High Street Make Up: Finds and Fails.

Hello and Welcome Back! It has been a while since I explored make up isles in Boots. I recently had the chance to explore and felt like a child in a sweet shop as there where so many new products. At least new to me!

In today’s post I am going to be sharing with you what I discovered. I have also tested these products out so will give you a mini review for each one. As with most high street purchases there were some fantastic finds and spectacular fails. Let’s start with the positive!

BarryM Crushed Jewel Cream Eyeshadows £4.99
Top is Pillow Talk and Bottom is Blissful.

I am always on the look out for a good cream eyeshadow as not only are they easy to apply, they are also perfect for wearing on their own or as a base for eyeshadow.

These remind me of the Maybelline Colour Tattoos. Does anyone else remember when those were really popular? Especially On and On Bronze! Anyway, these are similar concept but in a tube. I also find them to be much creamer.

Both colours blend beautifully (both on their own and together) and perfectly pigmented. For me that means they are not to bold but can be built up. I particularly like Blissful as I think it is the perfect neutral purple when blended out. Pillow talk is the perfect warm toned champagne colour.

The staying power for these is incredible, it lasts all day even when I did a 12 hour shift! I was so impressed that I went back and brought another one. A copper colour called Fairytale which compliments my blue eyes!

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour £5.99
Pink Blink

I love a liquid lipstick as I like no fuss make up. I want to put on a lip product and have it stay put. Is that too much to ask!? Anyway I am always drawn to browny tone pinks as I think they suit my complexion best.

I wore this for a Post-Christmas work do and it survived an all you can eat buffet. What more can you ask for!? More importantly it wasn’t drying at all and wore evenly. There is nothing more disappointing than a lipstick that wears unevenly leaving a ring round your mouth!

Wet n Wild Palette in Nude Awakening £5.99

I forgot to take the photo of the palette before doing the swatches so sorry about the finger print marks. Bad blogger! *taps the back of my hand*. Moving on, I was drawn to this palette as it is warm toned. I prefer warmer toned palettes but cooler toned palettes seem to be the trend recently. I also love the mix of neutrals with a couple of bolder colours such as the purple and navy for if I’m ever feeling adventurous!

The eye shadows don’t have individual names but as you often find with cheaper palettes the lighter tones are not as pigmented as the darker tones. None of them are chalky though with minimal fall out. They all blend beautifully and have strong lasting power. I have used these with an eye shadow primer or on the top of the BarryM Crushed Jewels.

Now lets move onto the fail. Thankfully there was only one!

Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit £6.99
Pose

This BarryM product was a fail for me purely based on the colour. It is far to pale for me and leaves me looking washed out. I actually think based on the colour of the lip liner and the outside of the box that the wrong colour liquid lipstick was put inside the box. So check before you buy!

The lip liner also didn’t work for me. It is the weirdest thing as it is pigmented on my hand but not at all on my lips. How strange!

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I discovered on the High Street and that the reviews helped you. What have you been loving from the High Street recently? Let me know in the comments section below.

Love,
