We are almost halfway through November and fast approaching advent! Its that time of year when spirits are high and magic is everywhere! It is easy to get swept up into the hysteria of it all. The wonderful Christmas drinks (who else is loving Costa’s Caramelised Orange Hot Chocolate?), all the decorations and of course buying gifts. I also find that Christmas is the time of year to reflect on how my life has changed since the previous year. As well as the sense of a fresh start with the new year just around the corner.
We all lead busy lives so it can feel impossible to find time to give back and also keep your home in order. Hopefully, I’m not alone with the second one! I seem to have an ever ending pile of books! So that was my first inspiration for completing a Reverse Advent Calendar. My second was, I was looking at advent calendars, to be honest, a lot of them were too expensive or full of products I wouldn’t use. I will probably have a cheeky chocolate calendar!
I still want to celebrate each day counting down to Christmas. So when I heard about a Reverse Advent Calendar on Pinterest I was instantly intrigued. As it allowed me to count down Christmas, give back to my local community and organise my home!
So what on earth is a Reverse Advent Calendar? I hear you say! Well, calm your Christmas bells I will tell you! Every day of advent from the 1st December until the 24th December I am going to place one item of clothing, a book or a household item I no longer use into a box. At the end of advent, I will donate my box of goodies with a total of 24 items to my local charity shop. Not only will I be giving back to charity I will also be decluttering just in time for my treats from Santa.
I will be quiet on my blog next week as I am going to Newcastle on holiday! But keep up with me over on Instagram. I will, of course, share my adventures with you all on my blog the following week. Don’t forget to follow my blog so you don’t miss out.
